Platinum Bank Launches Financial Innovations Laboratory - Platinum Lab

On the 12th of April Platinum Bank presented its financial innovations laboratory –Platinum Lab, the platform for developing digital banking technologies.

Platinum Lab is a separate team of innovation-open professionals in the field of digital banking, IT and marketing, which Platinum Bank has established with the aim of finding young start-ups that wish to evolve in the direction of fintech. General profile of the team – specialists from the digital business, marketing and IT.

Platinum Lab offers young IT-teams to join their efforts in developing financial services in order to provide simple and convenient solutions for clients’ everyday financial issues.

“Having combined our inner competencies and the ideas of start-up teams, Platinum Bank establishes a constantly active process of searching for and implementing of new technologies, which are aimed at improving the clients’ experience and the efficiency of business processes in remote servicing. By launching Platinum Lab, the bank strengthens its strategic development vector – innovations,” – comments on the start of the project Director of Digital Business Department at Platinum Bank, Alexander Ovcharuk.

The team of Platinum Lab will work on improving services, which optimize daily banking operations of the clients: balance check, convenient money transfer to the family member card, payments via terminals, payments for services, obtaining support from the contact centre, etc. These and many other services are in the focus of Platinum Lab’s attention and they will be either improved or reinvented.

“Today many start-up projects work on creating financial products and services with the help of new technologies. For example, developing the models for loan money disbursed to the Client by the Bank for a certain period and on terms as specified in the agreement. Loan client behaviour prognosis: will the client repay it timely or not, will the first instalment be late or the second one. In order for such models to have good accuracy, one needs examples from real life. At this point the grounds for cooperation emerge. The start-up has an idea and a retail bank, such as Platinum Bank, has a large credit history. Having combined our efforts, the bank gets the opportunity to improve its prognosis models and the start-up team – the opportunity to “test-drive” its solution on one of the leaders of retail loan money disbursed to the Client by the Bank for a certain period and on terms as specified in the agreement. Loan provision, with the prospects of later selling such solution in Ukraine or globally,” - Alexander explains possible variants of cooperation.
